Culturally Glancing at France
An old proverb says "if you love him, send him to New York, because it is the heaven;
if you hate him, send him to New York just the same, because it is the hell".The
Chinese young people dreaming of further study oversea always feel ambivalentabout
American carrot and stick. California dream seems to be fading on and on. Waken up
on the seashore in Florida, the war drum and anthem from Marseilles reminds me of
the birthplace of freedom, democracy and caritas - France, where is the treasury of
artwork all over the world and light-purple lavender and flower-de-luce blossom in
Provence.
Part Ⅰ: Drivers & Passers-by
I was completely confused by the "road-culture" when I came here. There are cars
as many as incalculable, much fewer passers-by and fewest bicycle-riders all around.
1. Cheap cars and expensive bicycles: It seems that car is NOT affordable for
anybody in France although the productivity of carmakers is much higher than the
population-birthrate here. Nevertheless the price of bicycles is extremely high far
beyond what I supposed of. Eagerly to own a bicycle here just as the second-hand
one I bought at
